Cyle Larin Scores Late Equaliser as Canada Draws 1-1

Cyle Larin scored in the 79th minute to secure a 1-1 draw for Canada against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the opening match of the 2026 World Cup in Toronto. The game was the tournament's first fixture. Canada controlled possession for most of the match but struggled to break through goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj. Jonathan David's early shot was saved by Vasilj, and Richie Laryea's effort was cleared off the line by Sead Kolašinac. Bosnia took the lead in the 21st minute when Jovo Lukić headed in from a corner for his first international goal. Coach Jesse Marsch introduced Larin with 14 minutes remaining to inject fresh impetus. Larin's equaliser arrived three minutes later, and he later saw a chance blocked in the final minute of stoppage time. Canada finished with 61% possession. Canada will seek their first World Cup win when they meet Qatar in Vancouver, while Bosnia and Herzegovina will face Switzerland in Los Angeles on June 18.
