Dutch face Morocco test as World Cup knockout looms

The Netherlands face their first World Cup knockout test in the early hours of Tuesday against Morocco in Monterrey, Mexico. The match follows a group-stage draw with Senegal and a narrow victory over Ecuador. Morocco qualified as group winners from Group F, finishing above Croatia, Belgium and Canada. The Dutch finished second in Group A behind hosts Mexico, level on points with Ecuador but separated by goal difference. Head coach Louis van Gaal confirmed the Dutch starting lineup hours before kick-off. Van Gaal said: 'We know it’s a tough opponent. Morocco have shown quality throughout the tournament.' Morocco reached the knockout stage with three wins from three group games, including a 2-1 victory over Croatia. The Atlas Lions also defeated Belgium 2-0 in their final group match.
