Dutch players touch down at Schiphol after round‑of‑16 exit

On Wednesday evening, the Netherlands national team stepped off the plane at Schiphol Airport, their return marking the end of a brief World Cup campaign. The side had been eliminated in the round of 16 after a penalty shootout loss to Morocco.

After two wins and a draw in the group stage, the Netherlands entered the knockout phase on Monday night. The match against Morocco would decide their fate in the round of 16.

The encounter stretched into before being decided by a penalty shootout. Morocco emerged victorious, ending Oranje's World Cup run.

Because of the early exit, the squad flew back to the Netherlands on Wednesday. footage captured the players arriving at Schiphol and heading home.

Countries still competing in the tournament can remain in Qatar until the final on 19 July. The championship match is scheduled for that date.

Ronald Koeman, 63, confirmed a day after the defeat that his tenure as head coach of the Netherlands national team was over. A successor has not yet been identified.
