FC Groningen continues pursuit of Go Ahead's Joris Kramer
FC Groningen remains determined to secure the signature of 29‑year‑old centre‑back Joris Kramer, the captain of Go Ahead Eagles, in the summer transfer window. Despite a rejected bid, the northern club says it has been actively pursuing the defender for months.
FC Groningen made an official bid for the 29‑year‑old captain, but the offer was resolutely turned down by Go Ahead Eagles. Joris Kramer remains the central defender and leader of the Dutch side.
Within Groningen, Kramer is viewed as the successor to Dies Janse, the defender hired from Ajax who is now returning to Amsterdam. The club hopes the new signing will fill the void left by Janse.
reported on Friday afternoon that Kramer and Go Ahead are negotiating a contract extension. RTV Noord added that while Groningen and the player have been in contact for some time, the northern club still needs to reach an agreement with Go Ahead’s management.
"Wij willen Joris nog altijd graag hebben en zijn er ook al geruime tijd mee bezig", said director Frank van Mosselveld of FC Groningen to the regional broadcaster. He declined to provide further details on the negotiations.
Kramer himself chose not to comment on the situation. FC Groningen maintains its ambition to secure the defender’s services.
