FC Twente and Ajax Eredivisie matches postponed to September
The Eredivisie fixtures for FC Twente and Ajax in the third matchday have been postponed from August to September. The Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed the change.
The clubs requested adjustments to align with European commitments. Both FC Twente and Ajax submitted preferences for matchdays and kick-off times around their European qualifiers.
FC Twente’s match against Telstar is now scheduled for 9 September at home. Ajax will face Willem II in Amsterdam on 15 September.
NEC’s fixture against Excelsior remains provisionally set for 22 August. However, if NEC progresses past the third Champions League qualifying round, their match may also be postponed.
The final Eredivisie schedule will be confirmed next Monday. The first-round fixtures for the 2026/27 season were already announced yesterday.
The relegation/promotion play-offs format reverts to the traditional setup. Last season, the Eredivisie’s 16th-placed team, FC Volendam, entered the play-offs only in the final. This season, they will participate from the semi-finals onward.
The first division’s provisional schedule has also been published.
