Feyenoord's new technical chief eyes Davis Opoku after Ferri
Feyenoord Rotterdam’s newly appointed technical director Dévy Rigaux has set his sights on a second Jupiler Pro League signing, targeting 18‑year‑old right‑back Davis Opoku of OH Leuven after the recent arrival of Spanish forward Nacho Ferri from Westerlo in the summer window.
Rigaux previously served as director of football at Club Brugge, where he secured the services of Charles Vanhoutte—who featured for Union Saint‑Gilloise—and the Spanish striker Nacho Ferri from Westerlo. Both players arrived on a combined fee close to €15 million, underscoring Rigaux’s willingness to invest in proven Belgian talent.
The 18‑year‑old Belgian U19 international Davis Opoku, who impressed this season for OH Leuven, is one of two priority options for the right‑back position, alongside 20‑year‑old Taylan Bulut, a German‑Turkish defender currently at Beşiktaş.
OH Leuven has already turned down a €5 million bid from FC Porto for Opoku, indicating strong interest from multiple clubs. Transfermarkt values the youngster at roughly €800 k, suggesting Feyenoord may need to improve the compensation package to secure his signature.
Rigaux believes the Jupiler Pro League offers sufficient talent to help Feyenoord return to the summit of Dutch football, and he sees the acquisition of a promising Belgian defender as a key component of that plan.
With the summer transfer window still open, Feyenoord will need to negotiate with OH Leuven to finalize any deal for Opoku, a move that could shape the club’s defensive options for the upcoming season.
