Fifth FIFA vice-president denounces Infantino over COO dismissal

In a sharply worded letter sent on Tuesday, Hungarian football federation chief Sandor Csanyi – the fifth FIFA vice‑president – told Gianni Infantino he has lost confidence in the president, branding the recent dismissal of chief operating officer Kevin Lamour as the final straw.

Csanyi, who sits on FIFA’s executive board, criticised Infantino’s professional judgment, ethical standards and leadership, calling the president’s conduct unacceptable for the sport’s global governing body.

The explosive letter was first obtained by the French news agency Agence France-Presse, which confirmed the document’s authenticity and highlighted its strong language.

Letter declares loss of confidence

In the correspondence, Csanyi wrote, “I have lost the confidence I previously placed in you,” directly addressing Gianni Infantino and underscoring the depth of his disappointment.

He further described the unexpected dismissal of Kevin Lamour, FIFA’s chief operating officer, as the “final straw” that triggered his decision to withdraw support.

The removal of COO Kevin Lamour, described by Csanyi as unexpected, was singled out as the decisive factor eroding his trust in Infantino’s leadership.

This development marks the loss of backing from another FIFA vice‑president, adding to the growing dissent within the organization’s senior ranks.
