In his post, Zahouani wrote: 'In response to my joining Ajax Amsterdam I wish to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, founder of the Mohammed VI Voetbalacademie, for his continuous support and remarkable vision that has opened professional opportunities for Moroccan youth.' He highlighted the academy's role in his development.
He also thanked the technical, administrative, educational and medical staff of the Mohammed VI Voetbalacademie, stating: 'Your guidance has had a major impact on my career and training.' Zahouani added gratitude to Tawarka Sportclub for its trust and encouragement during his post‑training programme.
According to De , Ajax secured the deal thanks to technical director Jordi Cruijff's strong relationship with Mo Sinouh. That connection gave the Dutch club an edge in the negotiations.
Zahouani will initially join Ajax's promises squad, with the club planning to promote him to the first team once he is acclimatised. The transition aligns with Ajax's strategy of developing young talent.
Last season he featured in eleven duels for Union Touarga Sportif, scoring once and providing one assist. Those performances contributed to his reputation as a top African prospect.
Zahouani is regarded as one of the continent's biggest talents and was a world champion with Morocco O20. He is expected to sign a multi‑year contract at the Johan Cruijff Arena.
His arrival adds depth to Ajax's wing‑back options and offers the Moroccan national side a player competing at the highest Dutch level. Supporters will watch closely as he adapts to the Eredivisie environment.
