Genk to promote Lucca Brughmans, list two goalkeepers
Genk will hand the starting goalkeeper role to 17-year-old Lucca Brughmans for the next season.
The youngster joins a lineage that includes Thibaut Courtois, Maarten Vandevoordt and Mike Penders.
Head coach Nicky Hayen made the decision after Brughmans impressed during the play-offs.
The move means two senior keepers have been told they may leave.
Hendrik van Crombrugge, whose contract expires in one year, is now free to seek a new club.
Tobias Lawal, 25, joined Genk last summer as the replacement for Mike Penders, who transferred to Chelsea, but Lawal has also been allowed to depart despite a longer contract.
Emile Doucouré, 18, is set to become the backup goalkeeper in the senior squad.
Ben Jackson reported the developments.
