Hedwiges Maduro open to Jong Ajax coach role after García exit

Hedwiges Maduro said he is willing to take over as trainer of Jong Ajax following the departure of Óscar García. The former Ajax midfielder made the comment in a WK Praat interview earlier today, indicating his readiness to return to Amsterdam.

Hans Kraay posed the rhetorical question, “Now I hear the trainer talking, should you not become the trainer of Jong Ajax?” The question was raised publicly during the same interview.

Maduro replied, “I have nothing to lose, but I would enjoy it. I am open to it, of course.” He added that a phone call would be the first step.

He continued, “If you call me, I will always listen. That applies here as well.” The statement emphasized his willingness to discuss the role.

Maduro also noted, “I know Ajax well, and I understand the club’s structure.” He mentioned that he does not know technical director Jordi Cruijff personally.

Ajax is currently searching for a new trainer for its reserve side, Jong Ajax. The vacancy arose after Óscar García left the club.

García had originally been recruited for the reserve‑team job, but after interim trainer Fred Grim departed, he temporarily assumed the head‑coach duties at Ajax. He announced his exit on Sunday.
