Inter monitor Mancini as Roma renewal looms

Inter are keeping a close eye on Gianluca Mancini's contract talks with Roma, as the 1996‑born defender is expected to extend a deal that currently runs to June 2027 and includes an offer of just over €3 million per year until 2029. Mancini told Sky that negotiations are ongoing and he is waiting for answers. He added, “Negotiations are ongoing, I’m waiting. There are insiders, my agent, myself, and the club: we’re talking and we’ll continue to do so. I’m waiting for answers and we’ll see what happens.” Roma have tabled an offer worth just over €3 million per year that would run until 2029, with an option for an additional year. Matteo Moretto reported that the renewal is close but still not finalised. Inter are watching the situation closely as they search for a central defender after De Vrij’s departure to Panathinaikos. The Nerazzurri hope to replace the departing centre‑back. Coach Gasperini, who was born in Grugliasco, has publicly rejected any transfer of Mancini. He said, “He’s not leaving, I’ve already told him that, but he knows it. Inter can do whatever they want, but the player wants to stay.” Gasperini called Mancini a cornerstone of the defence for the coming season. With the contract deadline approaching, Roma and Mancini remain in talks to secure the extension. Should the deal fall through, Inter’s interest could intensify.
