Jacquet's swift recovery eases Liverpool's injury woes

🇬🇧

2027 looms as the potential return date for Hugo Ekitike, but the headline this week is Jeremy Jacquet’s rapid comeback. The French defender, who completed his Liverpool transfer on Wednesday, has cleared a shoulder problem and is set to take part fully in pre‑season.

Liverpool are juggling a serious injury list this season. Even a leg fracture to Swedish striker Alexander Isak was surpassed by other setbacks, though Isak managed to return before the campaign ended.

Hugo Ekitike may remain sidelined until close to 2027, possibly extending into January. Conor Bradley is also expected to be absent for a comparable duration.

Giovanni Leoni suffered a severe knee injury on his debut, missing the entire season. The club hopes he can contribute again in the 2026/27 campaign.

Jacquet’s shoulder issue threatened his pre‑season preparation, raising concerns he would join the squad late. Dominic King the defender is now fully recovered and ready for a full role in Liverpool’s pre‑season.

The timing is crucial as Liverpool look to replace Ibrahima Konate, who departed for Real Madrid. Jacquet’s availability offers a swift solution to the defensive void.

These developments underscore Liverpool’s broader challenge of coping with multiple long‑term injuries while navigating the transfer market to reinforce a depleted back line.
