John van den Brom welcomes Wout Weghorst move from Ajax to FC Twente

FC Twente coach John van den Brom says a transfer for 33‑year‑old striker Wout Weghorst from Ajax would be ‘beautiful’, after the Dutch forward, who has amassed 52 international caps and 14 goals, is set to leave the Amsterdam club.

The 33‑year‑old forward is set to leave Ajax, and FC Twente have openly expressed interest. The comments came during a Life After Football event where VoetbalPrimeur interviewed FC Twente manager John van den Brom.

Erik ten Hag told that every club would like to have a player like Weghorst in their squad. He noted that Ajax does not currently have a striker of his type in the selection.

He indicated that FC Twente are monitoring the situation but have not reached any agreement.

Van den Brom added, “Ik hoop dat hij nog van waarde kan zijn voor het Nederlands elftal. Dat is hij in het verleden namelijk wel geweest”. He believes the striker could still contribute to the Netherlands after the World Cup.

To date, Weghorst has earned 52 caps for the Netherlands, scoring 14 goals. His international experience includes participation in the current World Cup, although he has not yet played.

When asked if he would return to Borne and FC Twente after the tournament, Van den Brom replied, “Ja, dat zou mooi zijn”. The coach described such a move as a positive outcome for both club and player.
