Kilmarnock sign 22-year-old Roshaun Mathurin from AS Trencin

Kilmarnock Football Club have secured the services of 22-year-old winger Roshaun Mathurin, signing him from AS Trencin of the Slovak Super Liga on a two-year deal at Rugby Park. The transfer was confirmed as the Scottish club announced the agreement on Monday.

Mathurin arrived in Scotland after a youth career that included spells at Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Crystal Palace. The former Palace academy graduate had previously been loaned to Hartlepool United from Crystal Palace.

During his time in Slovakia, Mathurin made 15 league appearances for AS Trencin after joining the club in October. His playing time in the Slovak Super Liga provided the experience that attracted interest from Kilmarnock.

The winger cited manager Neil McCann as the decisive factor in his move. Mathurin told KillieTV that McCann’s style of play and his own experience as a winger influenced his decision.

‘Towards the end of the season my agent told me there was interest from Kilmarnock and so I spoke to the gaffer,’ Mathurin said. ‘He was the number one reason for joining. I like his style of play and that he used to be a winger himself.’

Mathurin added that he looks forward to creating scoring opportunities and delivering assists for Kilmarnock. He described himself as energetic and eager to challenge opposition players.
