LASK and Sabah reach Champions League as Bodø/Glimt blanks NEC

Austria’s LASK and Azerbaijan’s Sabah have both secured historic places in the Champions League group stage, while Norway’s Bodø/Glimt dispatched Dutch side NEC Nijmegen without chance, confirming the Austrian side’s dramatic comeback and the Norwegian champion’s defensive dominance in the latest qualifying round.

LASK overturned a 0‑3 first‑leg deficit against Celtic Glasgow by winning the second leg 5‑1 after extra time. Callum McGregor put Celtic ahead in the 21st minute, but Moses Usor equalised in the 32nd before LASK surged forward. Robert Ljubicic scored in the 48th, Samuel Adeniran in the 58th, Florian Flecker in the 90th, and Adeniran added a second in the 109th minute, while later missing a penalty against keeper Viljami Sinisalo.

LASK secures group‑stage ticket

The Austrian champions now anticipate a start‑money payment exceeding €18 million. A draw to determine their group‑stage opponents is scheduled for Thursday.

Azerbaijan’s champion Sabah FK earned its inaugural Champions League berth by beating Israel’s Hapoel Beer Sheva 5‑2 after extra time. The tie ended 3‑2 after regular time and was settled 5‑2 following the extra period.

Norwegian champion Bodø/Glimt eliminated NEC Nijmegen with a 3‑0 aggregate victory, after a 3‑1 first‑leg win. NEC played most of the second leg with ten men after goalkeeper Gonzalo Crettaz received a red card in the third minute for a handball outside the box. Ex‑WAC keeper Nikolas Polster replaced him, marking his NEC debut; his market value is listed at €2.00 million.
