Le Normand returns to the national team while García stays out
Robin Le Normand rejoined the Spanish national team camp this Sunday after the withdrawal of Eric García, who suffered discomfort in his left knee before the match against England at Wembley. The Royal Spanish Football Federation said the decision aims to avoid risks ahead of the upcoming Nations League matches.
Reason for García's withdrawal
Eric García was slated to start at right back, but the sensations he experienced during the warm‑up forced Luis de la Fuente's coaching staff to change their plans for the match. After medical tests on the Barça centre‑back, he was withdrawn to “avoid any risk and preserve the player’s health.”
Marc Pubill took García’s place in the starting eleven, while Eric did not take part in the match and remains pending further medical examinations to determine the exact extent of his discomfort.
Le Normand’s return
Le Normand was seen during the match against Georgia, according to the EFE agency, and returned to the national team’s routine after having been omitted from the World Cup squad. The RFEF reported that the defender will now have the opportunity to train with the group and be available for the three remaining Nations League fixtures.
Spain lose Eric García to injury and call up Robin Le Normand as replacement
His reinstatement forces Luis de la Fuente to adjust the roster for the upcoming international commitments against the Czech Republic and Croatia, bolstering the defence at a decisive point in the calendar.
Eric García’s situation will be closely monitored in the coming days, with the aim of the player fully regaining his condition and preventing a minor niggle from turning into a larger problem.
Marc Cucurella faces a tough night against England at Wembley
The contrast between Le Normand’s return and García’s absence highlights the priority the Federation places on its players’ health as it prepares for the final challenges of the Nations League.
