Leipzig insists on keeping Diomande despite €130m price tag
RB Leipzig must retain 19‑year‑old winger Yan Diomande after his breakout 2023‑24 campaign, in which he recorded 13 goals and 10 assists across 36 matches, a contribution sport director Marcel Schäfer says the club cannot afford to lose this season.
Top clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool have been linked with Diomande, but Schäfer dismissed the rumors. "It is clear that Yan Diomande will play for RB Leipzig next year," he told , adding the club will not deviate from that plan.
Diomande arrived from Spanish side Leganés last summer for a €20 million fee. Transfermarkt now values him at €90 million, while Leipzig originally sought €130 million but has since indicated it will not cooperate on a transfer.
The Ivory Coast international also impressed on the world stage, providing an assist to Nicolas Pépé in a match against Curaçao. His form for the national team adds further weight to Leipzig’s desire to keep him.
Ivory Coast faces Norway on Tuesday 30 June at 19:00 CET, a fixture that will test Diomande’s consistency ahead of the new club season. The game offers a platform for the winger to showcase his talent on the international stage.
Schäfer confirmed Diomande will remain at RB Leipzig for the coming season, noting that a future move may be considered if his development continues, but not before next year. The club therefore focuses on integrating him into their tactical plans.
