Licá Retires at 37 After Trophy Win

🇵🇹

Luís Carlos Pereira Carneiro, known as Licá, announced his retirement at age 37. The decision came after a 1‑2 victory over Castro Daire in the AF Viseu Taça Sócios de Mérito final, giving him a trophy on his last day.

Licá earned a single cap for Portugal during his career. He previously represented FC Porto, Estoril Praia, Vitória SC and Belenenses in the Portuguese leagues. He also played abroad for Rayo Vallecano and Nottingham Forest.

Over the past four seasons, Licá played for ACDR Lamelas, his hometown club. He scored 68 goals in 103 appearances for Lamelas. He netted 35 goals in 32 matches last season and added 19 goals in his final campaign.

More than a year before retiring, Licá said he would leave when the team was in a good collective moment. He fulfilled that intention by ending his career on a trophy‑winning night.

Licá’s retirement concludes a 20‑year senior career spanning domestic and foreign clubs. His departure leaves ACDR Lamelas without their leading scorer as they look ahead to the next season.
