Lille target Davide Ancelotti as next head coach

Lille OSC will not have Bruno Genesio on the bench next season. Lille officials have identified Davide Ancelotti as their preferred replacement. Davide Ancelotti currently serves as Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant with the Brazil national team.

His potential appointment comes amid Brazil’s preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled for June 11 to July 19. The tournament dates overlap with Lille’s preseason schedule. Lille’s summer training typically begins in early July.

Carlo Ancelotti confirmed his Brazil staff, including Davide Ancelotti, will be fully focused on the World Cup. He stated the technical staff will not take on external roles during the tournament period. Lille’s interest in Davide Ancelotti was reported by Foot Mercato.

Davide Ancelotti has no prior head-coaching experience at club level. His coaching career has been exclusively within Carlo Ancelotti’s technical staff at Real Madrid and Brazil. He joined the Brazil setup in January 2024 after spells at Real Madrid and Everton.

Lille’s board is finalizing contract details. A formal announcement could follow the World Cup break. The club has not commented publicly on the reported approach.

If appointed, Davide Ancelotti would replace Genesio after two seasons in charge. Genesio led Lille to a fourth-place finish in Ligue 1 this season.
