Lino Godinho tipped to replace Besnik Hasi at Anderlecht

🇧🇪 yesterday

Portuguese coach Lino Godinho is emerging as the frontrunner to replace Besnik Hasi as head coach of RSC Anderlecht, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri. The former assistant to Francesco Farioli could arrive in Brussels as early as Tuesday, potentially bringing several members of his staff with him.

Godinho was born in Portugal and has never built a career as a former notable player. Instead he has developed his reputation as a coach and analyst.

Before becoming an assistant, he worked as a video analyst and tactical collaborator, focusing on opponent analysis and match preparation. These roles paved the way for his appointment to Francesco Farioli’s staff.

Godinho accompanied Farioli at Fatih Karagümrük in Turkey and later at Alanyaspor, before moving to OGC Nice and AFC Ajax. At Nice and Ajax he helped implement high‑pressing, disciplined tactical systems.

According to Tavolieri, Antoine Sibierski values Godinho’s football philosophy and sees his profile as fitting the club’s desire to return to a four‑defender formation. The club’s strategic shift toward a back four reportedly weighed heavily in the selection process.

Supporters have waited several seasons for Anderlecht to climb back to the top of the league and to display a more seductive style of play. If an agreement is reached, Godinho would be expected to deliver both results and an attractive brand of football.

A tweet from an insider claims the move is gaining momentum at RSCA and that Godinho could join the club as early as Tuesday with his coaching staff. The same source suggests the decision was made behind the scenes by Antoine Sibierski.
