Liverpool consider £40m bid for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott
Liverpool are reportedly weighing a £40 million offer for 22‑year‑old Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott. The move would be one of the first under new head coach Andoni Iraola, who signed a two‑year contract with Liverpool.
According to journalist Jamie Dickenson, Bournemouth value Scott at £60 million, a figure higher than the reported Liverpool bid. Dickenson added that Scott is currently in Miami with Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.
Dickenson also noted that Manchester United and Tottenham are monitoring Scott, while Liverpool have a £100 million target in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande. He referenced Liverpool’s £415 million spending spree from the previous summer on players such as Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez.
TalkSPORT insider Alex Crook said the interest in Scott is becoming increasingly credible because Liverpool struggled in midfield last season. He noted that Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister were not on the same level, and that Scott is a player Iraola knows well. Crook added that Bournemouth aim to tie Scott down with a new contract, but the link remains one to watch.
Scott praised Iraola’s influence, saying the Spaniard’s pressing style resembles early Liverpool teams under Jurgen Klopp. He expressed confidence that Iraola’s arrival could benefit Liverpool’s midfield dynamics.
Whether Liverpool finalize a deal for Scott remains uncertain, but the combination of managerial change and midfield needs gives the speculation genuine substance as the transfer window progresses.
