Liverpool eye €60m Real Madrid midfielder Nico Paz
Liverpool can target Real Madrid midfielder Nico Paz for €60 million after Fabrizio Romano reported that Real Madrid intend to activate their buy‑back clause on the Como‑based player and may put him on the market. The Italian transfer specialist said the offer is being made to Como, and whether the Spanish giants accept the deal remains uncertain.
Real Madrid have a history of signing Liverpool’s top talent. Recent free‑transfer moves include Ibrahima Konate and Trent Alexander‑Arnold, while earlier acquisitions featured Alvaro Arbeloa and Xabi Alonso in 2009, Michael Owen and Steve McManaman before that.
Liverpool’s on‑field encounters with Real Madrid have also been costly. The Reds lost Champions League finals in 2018 and 2022, adding to a defeat after Paris in 1981, all under manager Jurgen Klopp. Conor Bradley’s slide tackle in last season’s victory over Real Madrid was highlighted as a moment of intensity.
This summer Liverpool secured Victor Munoz, a player Real Madrid wanted to re‑sign. Munoz chose Liverpool for guaranteed playing time and the allure of working with Andoni Iraola.
Among Real Madrid’s recent academy graduates are Gonzalo Garcia, Jacobo Ramon, Chema Andres and Nico Paz. Paz excelled at Como in Serie A, is a versatile creative midfielder capable of playing as a No.8, and has elected to represent Argentina internationally.
Fabrizio Romano stated that Real Madrid will trigger the buy‑back clause for Paz from Como but are open to selling him for €60 million. The proposal is directed at Como, and Liverpool have been urged to intervene.
