Liverpool target Rayo Vallecano right-back Andrei Rațiu this summer

Liverpool are reported to be eyeing Rayo Vallecano right‑back Andrei Rațiu this summer, after the 28‑year‑old logged 50 La Liga appearances, scoring once and providing four assists last season. His contract runs until the summer of 2029, which could affect the price Liverpool are prepared to pay.

Fichajes reported that Liverpool have opened discussions to acquire the Romanian full‑back. The club’s hierarchy is said to be working with manager Andoni Iraola to finalise the deal before the summer window closes.

Rațiu featured in 50 La Liga matches for Rayo Vallecano last season, registering one goal and four assists. His performances have placed him among the most talented full‑backs in the Spanish top flight.

Scouting reports highlight his tackling ability and his knack for scanning danger to regain possession inside his own half. He is also comfortable clearing under pressure and can operate as a right‑sided wide player when required.

Analysts caution that the physical intensity of the Premier League may test his adaptability. Nevertheless, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot could benefit from Rațiu’s composure in building play from the back.

At 28, Rațiu is described as being in his prime, capable of competing for a regular starting berth at Anfield. His addition is projected to aid Liverpool’s challenge across all competitions in the coming seasons.

During a LaLiga EA Sports match on 23 April 2026, Carlos Romero of RCD Espanyol was pressured by Rațiu at Estadio de Vallecas. The action was captured by photographer Denis Doyle for Getty Images.

With his contract at Selhurst Park set to expire in the summer of 2029, Andoni Iraola is urged to secure the transfer this off‑season. A swift signing would align with Liverpool’s ambition to reinforce their defensive line.
