Lorient’s summer overhaul: eight players exit as new coach arrives
FC Lorient confirmed on Friday that eight players will depart the squad, including forwards Bamba Dieng (26) and Igor Silva (29), as the club also announced the appointment of Alexandre Dujeux to replace outgoing head coach Olivier Pantaloni in the ongoing summer roster shake‑up.
Olivier Pantaloni's tenure as head coach of FC Lorient came to an end. Alexandre Dujeux was appointed as his successor, taking charge of the Breton side.
Captain Laurent Abergel, 33, secured a move to OGC Nice. His transfer was confirmed alongside the other departures.
Lorient shore up defence with ex‑PSG right‑back Alec Georgen
Four loanees will return to their parent clubs: Bamo Meïté (24) from Olympique de Marseille, Abdoulaye Faye (21) from Bayer Leverkusen, Dermane Karim (22) from Lommel SK and Trevan Sanusi (19) from Newcastle United. Their temporary spells with Lorient conclude as the clubs recall them. Players whose contracts have expired and were not renewed include Bamba Dieng (26), Darlin Yongwa (25), Sambou Soumano (25) and Igor Silva (29). All four are now free agents able to sign elsewhere. The only confirmed addition so far is right back Alec Georgen (27), who arrived from USL Dunkerque. He joins the squad as Lorient looks to rebuild its defensive options. Young midfielder Gabin Bernardeau (20) is expected to arrive from OGC Nice, while FC Nantes midfielder Johann Lepenant (23) may also join the club. These potential signings hint at further activity in the transfer window.
