Lyon close to signing SCR Altach left-back Mohamed Ouédraogo

Olympique Lyonnais are on the verge of completing the transfer of 23‑year‑old Burkinabe left‑back Mohamed Ouédraogo from Austrian side SCR Altach under manager Ognjen Zaric, with the player expected to sign in the coming hours despite being contracted to Altach until June 2027.

During the 2025–26 campaign, Ouédraogo started 33 of his 35 appearances for SCR Altach across all competitions. He contributed four goals and three assists from the left‑back position. His performances made him a key figure under manager Ognjen Zaric.

The Burkinabe international has earned nine caps for the Burkina Faso national team, known as the Stallions. He began his career at Majestic FC before moving to Europe in 2023, initially playing for Altach’s reserve side and later breaking into the first team.

Ouédraogo’s contract with SCR Altach runs until June 2027, yet the transfer to Olympique Lyonnais is expected to be finalised within hours. The deal would likely trigger the exit of either Nicolás Tagliafico, aged 33, or Abner Vinícius, aged 26.

Both Tagliafico and Vinícius have been linked with departures from Les Gones for several weeks. Their potential exits would open up defensive options for Lyon ahead of the new season.

If the move materialises, Lyon will add a young, contract‑bound left‑back to their squad. The club will then need to decide which veteran defender will be released.
