Man United eye Brentford’s 22‑goal striker Igor Thiago

Manchester United are monitoring Brentford striker Igor Thiago, with Arsenal also entering the chase, 24‑year‑old Brazilian netted 22 goals in 38 Premier League appearances last season and is valued at €80 million (£69 million), making him a prime target for the club's upcoming transfer window.

Michael Carrick’s summer planning places a new centre‑forward among the priorities, although United’s immediate focus remains central midfield. The club has confirmed Rasmus Hojlund’s £38 million permanent move to Napoli and is understood to have Joshua Zirkzee available.

Benjamin Sesko, while showing potential, will need competition and a different attacking profile. Igor Thiago’s physical presence and proven goal‑scoring could provide the contrasting striker United lack.

Thiago was described as a “standout” Premier League performer after his 22‑goal haul, a return that secured his place in Brazil’s World Cup squad and attracted attention from larger clubs.

RTI Esporte reports United are “monitoring” Thiago’s situation and considering an offer, with his €80 million (£69 million) valuation reflecting Brentford’s strong negotiating position and the premium placed on proven Premier League forwards.

Arsenal’s involvement adds competition, as the Gunners are prepared to sell Gabriel Jesus and view Thiago as an option to challenge Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres for the No 9 role.

For Thiago, the prospect of Champions League football, title contention and a defined attacking structure at United could be persuasive, while United must decide quickly on price, role and project.
