Manchester City Compete with Arsenal and Tottenham for Newcastle Midfielder Sandro Tonali
Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are all vying for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, the 26‑year‑old Italian who logged 53 appearances, three goals and seven assists for the Magpies last season, while his contract runs until the summer of 2028.
Fabrizio Romano wrote on X that Manchester City are facing tough competition for Sandro Tonali. He highlighted the intensity of the pursuit among the English clubs.
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have also entered the race to sign the Italy international. Both clubs are expected to present offers later this year.
Tonali made 53 appearances for Newcastle United in the previous campaign. He contributed three goals and seven assists across all competitions.
His current deal with Newcastle United expires in the summer of 2028. The length of the contract may limit Manchester City’s ability to acquire him cheaply.

Tonali combines solid tackling with an ability to scan and win the ball back inside his own half, while also delivering accurate passes. His presence would add quality and depth to Manchester City’s midfield, and he is expected to challenge for a regular first‑team spot as he enters his prime years.
