Manchester City’s £120m third bid for Elliot Anderson
Manchester City have submitted a third offer for Nottingham Forest’s England midfielder Elliot Anderson, valuing the 23‑year‑old at over £120 million after earlier bids of £85 million and £106 million plus £15 million in add‑ons were turned down by Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis this summer.
Hugo Viana, Manchester City sporting director, has named the 23‑year‑old Anderson as the club’s primary transfer target. The focus on Anderson follows the imminent departure of Bernardo Silva on a free transfer this summer. City view the midfielder as essential to replenish creativity in the middle of the park.
The club anticipates that Anderson would thrive under incoming manager Enzo Maresca, who is expected to be confirmed as City’s new coach within days. Maresca’s tactical approach reportedly favours a dynamic midfielder capable of both defensive work and forward thrust.
Manchester City’s scouting network also monitors Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali as a potential addition. In addition, the Etihad side admire Lille’s 18‑year‑old sensation Ayyoub Bouaddi.
David Ornstein of The Athletic reported that negotiations continue, but no agreement has been reached on the latest proposal. Both clubs are said to be discussing the new offer as City attempts to narrow the valuation gap.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis insists on setting a new British transfer record for Anderson, demanding a fee above the £125 million Liverpool paid Newcastle United for Alexander Isak last summer. Marinakis is handling the talks personally, underscoring the club’s determination to secure a premium price.
