Manchester City submit second £106m bid for Elliot Anderson
Manchester City submitted a second verbal bid for Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest. The offer totals £106 million upfront with potential add-ons exceeding £120 million.
Nottingham Forest rejected the bid, holding firm for a fixed fee above £125 million. This surpasses the British record Liverpool paid for Alexander Isak last summer.
David Ornstein reported the bid for The Athletic. Martin Blackburn separately reported Forest’s demand of at least £110 million upfront for Anderson.
Manchester City aims to finalize the deal before the World Cup. A compromise could be reached before England’s opening fixture against Croatia next Wednesday.
Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis called City’s second offer unacceptable. John Percy reported Marinakis’ stance for The Telegraph.
Negotiations between City and Forest remain ongoing. Anderson is Forest’s most important player and a proven elite midfielder in the Premier League.
At 23, Anderson’s best years lie ahead. Marinakis values him as a key asset and is unwilling to accept anything less than his valuation.
City needs Anderson to replace Bernardo Silva. Nico Gonzalez and Tijjani Reijnders have underperformed, leaving a clear midfield void.
The club may need to break the British transfer record to sign Anderson. The price reflects both his quality and Forest’s determination to maximize his value.
