Manchester United confirm Jadon Sancho departs this summer
Manchester United have confirmed they will not trigger the one‑year option on Jadon Sancho's contract. The England winger will leave the club this summer alongside Casemiro and Tyrell Malacia.
The club published its annual retained and released list on Wednesday morning. Youngsters Sonny Aljofree, James Bailey and Malachi Sharpe will also depart when their contracts expire on 30 June.
Sancho was signed from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million in July 2021. He has spent the past three seasons on loan at Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa, playing in a European final for each club. He featured in Aston Villa's Europa League final win over Freiburg last month. Apart from an 83rd‑minute substitute appearance in the 2024 Community Shield, he has not played for United since 26 August 2023. He was omitted from the squad for the Arsenal trip, prompting a public spat with Erik ten Hag.
Head coach Michael Carrick paid tribute to Casemiro and Tyrell Malacia on the pitch after United's final home game against Nottingham Forest on 17 May.
United have offered professional contracts to Albert Mills and Dante Plunkett for July. No comment has been given on England youth international Godwill Kukonki, who scored United's goal in the FA Youth Cup final. Kai Rooney and Jacey Carrick are expected to become scholars in the upcoming season.
