Christophe Franken, technical director, points out that the hierarchy could be shaken up by Euro 2028, while several questions are already arising for the upcoming matches and gatherings. The debate particularly concerns the place of Kevin De Bruyne, 35, who was substituted twice during the game by van Bommel, deemed unable to sustain that pace longer.

De Bruyne's contract ends in Naples at the end of the season, with no prospect of extension, and he could consider a final adventure in MLS, which would leave the coach free to replace him.
