Mbappé’s next deal: a lucrative switch to an unexpected sponsor
The Paris Saint-Germain striker is finalising a surprise kit deal with a lesser-known brand. Mundo Deportivo reports the French forward will sign with an unexpected partner in a highly lucrative agreement. Thibaut Vézirian, a French football specialist, notes the new sponsor is not a household name like Adidas, Puma or Under Armour.
Vézirian says the talks are progressing rapidly. He told the Catalan daily: “Things are moving very fast for an unexpected brand to become Kylian Mbappé’s official kit supplier.” The journalist adds that final details are being wrapped up. “This is a major change. A football star will be involved in the deal, which will allow the brand to establish itself in football through premium footwear.”
Mbappé will reportedly take an equity stake in the company. Vézirian says the arrangement will include his own signature line. “There is no doubt Kylian Mbappé will have his own brand and a stake in the company.”
Rayan Cherki, the Manchester City midfielder, is also set to switch sponsors this summer. Le10Sport reports the former Lyon player’s Adidas contract is expiring. He could join Puma, which already supplies Manchester City. L’Équipe recently reported the deal could be worth between €3m and €4m annually, placing Cherki among the world’s top ten highest-paid footballers in sponsorship income.
Vézirian underlines the commercial significance of both moves. “These changes show how quickly brands can reshape their football strategy,” he said. “Mbappé’s deal will give a lesser-known company global visibility.”
The French striker’s current Adidas deal has been a cornerstone of his commercial portfolio. The reported shift signals a bold new chapter for both player and brand.
For Cherki, the potential move to Puma would mark a return to the German brand after his Lyon days. The midfielder’s Adidas contract has been a key revenue stream since his breakthrough.
Industry observers note the timing aligns with the summer transfer window. Both players’ commercial renewals are being finalised as clubs finalise squad plans for the new season.
The deals underscore the growing value of individual sponsorships in football’s commercial ecosystem.
