Mohamed Salah assists Egypt's shock win over Belgium
Egypt beat Belgium 1-0 at Seattle Stadium on Monday. Mohamed Salah set up Emam Ashour for the opening goal 20 minutes in. Ashour received the ball on the edge of the D, controlled it and fired a low strike into the bottom-left corner.
The goal was Ashour's first international strike and Egypt's quickest World Cup goal. Salah's assist gave him three goal contributions in as many World Cup matches, coinciding with his 34th birthday. Belgium entered the game unbeaten in their previous seven World Cup openers, but an aging squad struggled against Egypt's first-half intensity, leaving the Red Devils to chase a comeback.
