Monaco's Ansu Fati transfer stalls over salary

Monaco are set to trigger the €11 million purchase option for Spanish forward Ansu Fati, but a dispute over his salary threatens to delay the permanent move. Both clubs have indicated willingness to complete the deal, yet the wage issue remains unresolved. The clause, agreed with Barcelona, also contains a percentage of any future sale, and Monaco have expressed readiness to sign Fati permanently. Barcelona have welcomed the activation, seeing the fee as a timely inflow for their finances. Images of the player were supplied by Alex Caparros and Angel Martinez. Fati earned a gross €12 million last season and his Barcelona contract projects a rise to €14 million for the upcoming campaign, a figure Monaco consider beyond their budget. Monaco therefore press the player to lower his salary expectations, while Fati insists on maintaining his current terms. Barcelona aim for a swift resolution to secure the income before the close of the financial period, noting the sale would bolster their economic position. If talks stall, Monaco may ask for a fee reduction or Barcelona could assist financially, but all parties still expect Fati’s future to lie away from Camp Nou.
