Mourinho pushes Real Madrid for two more signings
Real Madrid’s summer transfer window already includes four signings— Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella and Bernardo Silva—who will join after the 2026 World Cup, but head coach Jose Mourinho is already urging the club to add two more players.
All four newcomers have already signed contracts and are set to report to the Santiago Bernabeu once their national team duties at the 2026 World Cup conclude. Their arrivals are scheduled for the latter part of the summer transfer period.
Mourinho has specifically asked for another centre‑back and a midfielder comparable to Luka Modric. He believes the squad needs additional depth in both defensive and creative midfield areas.
The Portuguese coach has named Alessandro Bastoni or Nico Schlotterbeck as his preferred defensive options, while he cites Enzo Fernandez or Mateus Fernandes for the midfield role. Schlotterbeck’s recent 6‑8 week injury layoff may diminish his chances of a move.
Enzo Fernandez appears to be the favoured midfield candidate, although a transfer for the Chelsea player does not seem imminent. Mourinho was instrumental in securing Konate, Dumfries, Cucurella and Silva, and he hopes to replicate that influence with the next signings.
