Napoli eye Federico Gatti for €20m as Allegri pending

Napoli have identified centre‑back Federico Gatti as a priority signing, with the club prepared to meet Juventus’s asking price of around €20 million, a figure that would yield a profit for the Bianconeri. The move hinges on Massimiliano Allegri’s confirmed appointment at Napoli after his contract dispute with AC Milan is resolved.

Allegri’s arrival at Napoli remains pending, as his severance terms with AC Milan have yet to be finalised. Napoli’s transfer strategy is tied to the coach’s official confirmation, meaning the Gatti deal will only proceed once Allegri is in place.

Juventus have set an asking price of approximately €20 million for Gatti, Gatti’s original transfer fee from Frosinone, the sum would represent a significant profit for the Turin club.

Gatti previously worked closely with Allegri during their time together at Juventus. Allegri is understood to view the defender’s qualities highly and to consider reuniting with him in Naples a genuine factor in the pursuit.

At Juventus, head coach Luciano Spalletti has consistently looked beyond the Italian international in his defensive planning. The expected arrival of additional centre‑back reinforcements this summer will further limit Gatti’s prospects for regular football.

A transfer to Napoli would provide Gatti with a fresh start. It would also place him under a coach who knows his abilities intimately and rates him highly.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis was recently seen at the screening of the film “Freaks Out” during the 78th Venice Film Festival. The image, credited to Marco BERTORELLO, shows De Laurentiis arriving for the event on September 8, 2021.
