Nations League: De Bruyne lets Belgium triumph, Turkey threatened

In Belgian Liège, Kevin de Bruyne scored his 200th and 201st competitive goals with strikes in the 10th and 60th minutes, while Romelu Lukaku added the third goal to the 3‑0 victory over Turkey. The result put Belgium on six points and second place in the Nations League, while Turkey, after the 1‑4 defeat to Italy, had no chance left in Belgium.

Pressure on Vincenzo Montella rises

After the 1‑4 loss to Italy, the Turkish team in Belgium was already without any chance, as Can Uzun of Eintracht Frankfurt was missing. Coach Vincenzo Montella now has to face Italy at home, while in the parallel match France secured a 1‑1 draw against Belgium.

Mark van Bommel, the former Bayern sweeper, celebrated the second win in his third match as coach of the Red Devils. At the start of the Nations League season, Turkey had lost 0‑1 to France, which further increased the pressure on the Turkish team.

The air is getting thinner for national coach Vincenzo Montella, because Turkey is still waiting for its first points of the season. A win in the upcoming home match against Italy could decide the coach’s fate.

With six points, Belgium now sits in second place and is preparing for the return match in France on Monday. Kevin de Bruyne remains a central figure in the Nations League, while Turkey continues to fight for every point.
