NEC sells El Kachati to Stade Reims for €2m

NEC announced on Thursday that 26‑year‑old striker Yousef El Kachati will join French Ligue 2 side Stade Reims. The transfer fee is reported at two million euros, excluding bonuses, according to multiple media outlets. El Kachati arrived at NEC a year ago on a free transfer from Telstar, making the deal a significant financial gain for the Nijmegen club. Technical director Carlos Aalbers said the striker had not played the minutes he expected last season. He added that when Stade Reims approached, it quickly became clear the transfer would be a good solution for all parties. El Kachati, 26, had a contract with NEC for two more years at the Goffertstadion. He featured in 22 matches for the club and scored three goals during his spell. NEC finished third in the Eredivisie last campaign. The club also reached the KNVB Cup final, where it was beaten 5‑1. Stade Reims competes in France's second division, Ligue 2. The team ended the previous season in sixth place in that league. Earlier this summer, Reims sold goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen to Newcastle United. The transfer fee was reported as 25 million euros.
