Newcastle United sign French goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen for €28.5m
Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of 20‑year‑old French goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen.
The Magpies paid a reported €28.5 million to Stade de Reims and offered Jaouen a four‑year contract.
Jaouen spent the 2024‑25 season on loan at USL Dunkerque, where he helped the club reach the Coupe de France semi‑final and came close to promotion from Ligue 2.
He returned to Reims after the club’s relegation from Ligue 1 and kept the No.1 spot throughout the season, though Reims did not regain top‑flight status.
Real Madrid once identified him as a potential long‑term successor to Thibaut Courtois, and he previously visited Chelsea FC’s facilities.
Reims previously recorded the same €28.5 million fee when they sold Hugo Ekitike to Paris Saint‑Germain.
