Nick Marsman signs one-year deal with Go Ahead Eagles

Nick Marsman, 35, will return to Go Ahead Eagles as a second‑choice goalkeeper on a one‑year contract with an option for a further year, announced today. The Dutch keeper signs after leaving Fortuna Sittard, where his contract expired six months ago.

Marsman previously featured for Go Ahead Eagles in the 2012‑13 season while on loan from FC Twente. That spell marked his only earlier appearance for the Deventer side.

In Deventer he will sit behind first‑choice Kjetil Haug, who arrived on a free transfer from French club Toulouse. Haug’s signing was completed earlier this week as Go Ahead prepared for the departure of Jari De Busser.

Jari De Busser’s move to AZ was confirmed on Friday, opening a vacancy in the Eagles’ goalkeeping roster. The club therefore secured a new starter in Haug and a backup in Marsman.

Marsman’s career includes spells at FC Utrecht, Feyenoord, Inter Miami, ADO Den Haag, Roda JC, Renofa Yamaguchi and Fortuna Sittard. He last played for Fortuna Sittard before becoming a free agent.

The one‑year deal includes an option to extend for an additional season. His signing strengthens Go Ahead Eagles’ squad.
