Nico Schlotterbeck ruled out for two months after knee injury

Nico Schlotterbeck, the central defender of Borussia Dortmund, suffered a torn ligament in his left knee after a collision with Amad Diallo in the first half of Germany's group match against Ivory Coast. The injury will keep him out for roughly two months and ends his participation in this World Cup. Schlotterbeck was substituted at halftime following the contact with Diallo. An MRI scan confirmed the ligament rupture, confirming a two‑month recovery period and confirming he will not feature in the remaining tournament games. Antonio Rüdiger is expected to replace Schlotterbeck in Germany's defensive line. The team began the tournament with six players on the field and hopes the third group match will allow Rüdiger to integrate fully, despite the setback. Jérémy Doku of Belgium has attracted media attention due to his impending fatherhood, reported breathing problems, and frequent travel to London. The Belgian forward remains a focal point of discussion among fans and commentators. Youri Tielemans addressed the media after Belgium's draw with Iran, conducting a press conference in Seattle. The captain fielded questions as part of the team's post‑match damage control. Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé added further milestones for France during the tournament. France defeated Iraq 3‑0, though a storm in Philadelphia caused an unexpected interruption. Ex‑Carolo Nadhir Benbouali revived Algeria with a notable performance in a separate game.
