Paris Saint-Germain appoint Matvey Safonov as first-choice goalkeeper
Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed Matvey Safonov as their first-choice goalkeeper for the coming season. Lucas Chevalier will be transferred if a buyer emerges.
The club sold Gigi Donnarumma to Manchester City after the 2025 Champions League triumph over Inter Milan. Lucas Chevalier arrived from Lille as the successor.
Chevalier struggled early in the campaign and was replaced by Safonov. Safonov contributed to Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League victory last month.
The Ligue 1 schedule for the next season shows a challenging opening week for Paris Saint-Germain. Academy defender Noham Kamara has moved to Lyon after the French side exercised the purchase option.
