Pedri says he’d welcome Julián Alvarez at Barcelona
Pedri said he would welcome Julián Alvarez if the Argentine striker joins FC Barcelona, a comment he made while Spain prepare for their final World Cup group match against Uruguay. The midfielder spoke ahead of the game, which kicks off at 02:00 Dutch time.
Pedri began his interview with RTVE by expressing skepticism about the Alvarez rumors. He said, “Ik denk dat er veel moet gebeuren om dat te laten gebeuren”.
Julián Alvarez is an Argentine striker currently playing for Atlético Madrid. He has been high, if not at the top, of FC Barcelona’s transfer list, but Atlético Madrid is reluctant to sell.
Pedri added that he does not want to involve himself in club matters or a player’s situation. He stated, “Ik wil me niet met clubdingen en dingen van een speler bemoeien”.
Pedri expressed personal admiration for Alvarez as a player. He said, “Ik hou van Julián als speler en ik heb altijd gezegd dat ik wil dat de beste spelers bij Barça zitten. Als het gebeurt, dan zeg ik: welkom”.
Spain’s national team is currently in preparation for the last group game in Pool H against Uruguay. Spain sit on four points after a draw with Cape Verde and a win over Saudi Arabia.
