Perez’s €150m gamble: Olise the only Galactico Real Madrid will pursue

🇪🇸

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is prepared to spend the club’s entire transfer budget to sign Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise this summer. The Frenchman remains Perez’s sole ‘Galactico’ target after a €150 million bid for Julian Alvarez failed to materialise.

Perez’s pursuit of Olise is described as an obsession, with the president reportedly treating the winger as his ‘Plan A’, ‘Plan B’ and ‘Plan C’ for this summer. According to reports, Olise is the only player Perez is considering for the marquee signing that would fulfil his election promise.

The president has already redirected funds intended for Enzo Fernandez toward Olise, effectively shelving the latter’s transfer. Perez’s determination extends beyond this summer, with plans to renew his pursuit in 2027 if the deal does not materialise now.

Bayern Munich have no intention of selling Olise this season, complicating Madrid’s ambitions. The Bavarians view the winger as a centrepiece of their future plans, leaving his arrival in Spain contingent on a favourable contractual situation or a record-breaking fee.

A transfer this summer appears unlikely without Olise publicly declaring his desire to leave Bayern Munich. Despite Perez’s efforts, the Frenchman is highly unlikely to join Real Madrid in the coming weeks.

The president’s strategy mirrors his past obsession with Kylian Mbappe, who eventually joined Real Madrid after years of pursuit. Olise now occupies that same priority status in Perez’s long-term planning.

Madrid’s transfer budget, typically reserved for marquee signings, is now earmarked exclusively for Olise. The club’s summer recruitment strategy has been reshaped around securing his signature, with no alternative targets under consideration.

For Bayern Munich, the situation underscores Olise’s central role in their squad planning. The club’s refusal to entertain offers reflects their commitment to building around the Frenchman, at least for the immediate future.
