Porto has two supporters detained in Seville after assaulting security

At gate 12 of La Cartuja Stadium in Seville, two FC Porto supporters were detained after assaulting a private security guard during the Champions League match against Real Betis. The incident occurred shortly after the end of the match, when tension among the fans was still high.

Details of the assault and arrest

According to Diario de Sevilla, the two fans were approached by the security team that formed a protective cordon while waiting for the police. One of the supporters tried to jump the perimeter; the guard chased him and ended up being assaulted by another Porto fan.

The two individuals were brought before a court this Friday. The guard suffered a jaw fracture and briefly lost consciousness, as reported by the Security Union.

The Union lamented the incident, stating that no worker should have to leave home to become a victim of violence in the performance of their duties and that aggression against security guards must not be normalized.

Diario de Sevilla highlighted that the episode occurred during the Champions League game between FC Porto and Real Betis, underscoring the seriousness of the incident on an international stage.

Local authorities keep the case under investigation, while Porto's club has not yet made official comments about the conduct of its supporters.
