Rafa Mir sentenced to 8.5 years for sexual abuse
Spanish court sentenced Elche striker Rafa Mir to eight and a half years in prison for sexual abuse. The judge ordered seven years for the abuse and an additional eighteen months for bodily injury. Co‑defendant Pablo J. G., who plays in a lower Spanish division, received two and a half years.
The offences stemmed from a night‑out incident in 2024 at Mir’s house in Valencia. Mir denied wrongdoing, claiming the women consented, but the court found the victims’ statements credible. Mir, who scored eight goals for Elche last season as the club finished 15th in La Liga, must also pay damages and may appeal the verdict.
