Rangers eye Hearts manager Derek McInnes if Rohl departs
Rangers have reportedly asked Hearts for permission to speak to manager Derek McInnes. The approach is linked to Danny Rohl’s likely move to Red Bull Salzburg.
Tom English said on BBC Sportsound that McInnes would be a “no‑brainer” for Rangers. He highlighted McInnes’s experience, work ethic and knowledge of the Scottish league. English added that Jamestown Analytics, the influential operation at Hearts, would not be upset by a managerial change.
Craig Levein warned that an approach would give McInnes a very difficult decision. Levein noted Hearts’ recent uplift under Tony Bloom and the team’s strong league position.
Darren Jackson recalled McInnes turned down Rangers in 2017 while at Aberdeen. Jackson added that expectations at Hearts are high and the pull of Rangers remains strong.
