RB Leipzig’s recruitment push: Sven Mijnans and Brajam Gruda target
RB Leipzig have entered the market alongside Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen to secure AZ Alkmaar midfielder Sven Mijnans. The 26‑year‑old, fresh from a season with 21 goals and nine assists in 50 matches, is now a focal point of Bundesliga transfer speculation.
Mijnans recorded 21 goals and added nine assists across all competitions, marking his most productive campaign to date. His output in 50 appearances has placed him among the most coveted Dutch talents in Europe.
Despite circulating Dutch reports, no formal offer for Mijnans has been turned down by AZ Alkmaar. The midfielder’s contract includes a €15 million release clause that activates for foreign clubs.

PSV Eindhoven have also entered the race, buoyed by a substantial cash influx following Ismael Saibari’s €50 million move to Bayern Munich. The Dutch side sees Mijnans as a key target to reinforce their squad. According to Philipp Hinze, new Leipzig head coach Martin Demichelis is heavily involved in the club’s squad planning ahead of the 2026/27 season. Demichelis’s input is shaping the transfer strategy that now features Mijnans as a priority. Leipzig’s ambitions extend beyond Mijnans, as they aim to bring German youth international Brajam Gruda back to the club. The preferred route is a loan deal that includes an obligation to purchase at its conclusion. If Leipzig secure both Mijnans and Gruda, the duo could form the core of a refreshed attacking line for the upcoming campaign. Their acquisitions will be among the final moves before the club finalises its 2026/27 roster.
