On Thursday evening, RC Lens overturned Slavia Prague 3-2 in the Champions League in Prague, thanks to goals from Florian Thauvin and Ruben Aguilar scored in stoppage time after being 2-1 down until the 90+1 minute.

Down 2-1 until the 90+1 minute, the Blood and Gold saw the match turn. Slavia Prague had controlled the game from the start, but RC Lens found the necessary energy in the final seconds. The setting was that of a Thursday evening in the Czech Republic.

Florian Thauvin found the net in the 90+2 minute, closely followed by Ruben Aguilar in the 90+4 minute. Those two goals turned the score to 3-2 in favor of RC Lens. The victory secured the club's return to the Champions League.

An unexpected turnaround in Prague

The scenario was described as “completely crazy” by observers. RC Lens overturned Slavia Prague on Thursday evening, turning a desperate situation into a resounding feat. The supporters left the Czech Republic with a feeling of pride.

The heroes share their impressions

Florian Thauvin, interviewed on Canal+, said: “Honestly, congratulations to the team. We had the mentality tonight, we were coming out of a difficult period. Reacting as we did today will do us a lot of good. That's how we create that extra soul for a season. We fought like lions until the end, we didn't give up, we were rewarded with this victory. It feels good. We've seen everything in football, if I start scoring with my head (laughs). More than a goal, it's a mindset. When we give everything until the end, we score with the head, the foot, the butt, that's football, that's how it is. That's what we love about football, there have been turnarounds. Everyone who came on did the job, fought, created differences. They did us a huge favor. It's a great satisfaction tonight.”

Ruben Aguilar added: “We trained together with Florian Thauvin, tonight we score in the Champions League! We couldn't have written this scenario, impossible! Tonight, we take it, we love it especially for my buddy Flo… He got the little man of the match trophy, it was missing from his showcase.”

The official RC Lens account shared on Twitter: “WHAT A MADNESS IN PRAGUE! Down 2-1 until the 90+1 minute, RC Lens overturned Slavia Prague (2-3) at the end of a completely crazy scenario and achieved a feat for its return to the Champions League 🔥❤️💛 #RCLens #SLARCL” – the message quickly spread under the hashtag PRAGUE.

This contrast between the distress at the 90+1 minute and the heroes' euphoria shows RC Lens's mental strength. The two scorers turned a difficult evening into a decisive moment, opening the way for a European campaign full of hope.
