Real Madrid barred from selling Nico Paz this summer

Real Madrid cannot activate Nico Paz’s €10 million buy‑back clause and sell him this summer because transfer rules demand a 12‑week gap between the two operations. Journalist Jose Felix Diaz reported that the regulation forces the club to postpone any permanent transfer until the winter market, ending speculation about an immediate €60 million resale. The club had hoped to trigger the €10 million clause and then flip the midfielder for €60 million after his standout season in Serie A. Rumours linked Nico Paz with clubs across the Premier League and Serie A. Nico Paz spent the previous campaign on loan at Como, where he enjoyed a breakthrough in Italy’s top flight. His performances there marked him as one of Europe’s most promising young midfielders. Transfer regulations stipulate that a twelve‑week interval must elapse before a player can be sold after being re‑signed. Consequently, any permanent move for Paz could only be completed in the winter transfer window. Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho now faces a dilemma over guaranteeing playing time for the 21‑year‑old amid a crowded midfield. Securing regular minutes at the Santiago Bernabeu remains a challenge for the midfielder. Real Madrid are also actively pursuing Enzo Fernandez, identified as the club’s priority target. A new signing would intensify competition for midfield places and keep the prospect of a profitable sale appealing to decision‑makers at Valdebebas.
